The Institut de Français is a fantastic school, filled with dedicated teachers and staff. From small, intimate class sizes with engaging curriculum and various teaching methods, to the fantastic meals provided, nothing and no one is overlooked. The location of the school is beautiful, as are the gardens located inside. My experience was unforgettable and I look forward to returning. Thank you Victor, Frédérique, Elodie, Sylvie, Sarah and Anthony for a marvelous month of learning. My wife and I attended the Institut de Français for four weeks in February (2026). It was a fantastic experience. The teachers are excellent: patient, knowledgeable, funny, kind… Besides an app on my phone, I had never studied French before, so I started at a pretty low level. The immersive environment was super helpful, and by the end of the four weeks, I was considered an intermediate student. We really appreciated having breakfast and lunch (always a treat) at the school, which was super convenient and provided additional opportunity to listen and speak. In addition to language instruction, the classes and optional excursions introduce you to French culture, food, and customs. We highly recommend the Institut de Français. Attending l'Institute de Français at Villefrance-sur-mer is highly recommended if your aspiration is to truly lean into learning the French language as well as enjoying a French cultural immersion experience. You will get out what you put in. If you endeavor to attend all classes, events and do the homework, you will likely walk away wishing that you could stay longer to continue the 'journey'. I spent three wonderful weeks in January 2026 at the Institut de Français and it was an unforgettable experience. The teachers are all fabulous— smart, engaging and truly dedicated. The other students were interesting and very supportive of each other, coming from all over the world, which made every day enriching. And the environment is amazing: studying French with the Mediterranean as your backdrop is hard to beat. I couldn’t recommend it more highly. I plan to return next year\! Couldn’t recommend it enough, my teacher was Victor and he was very professional and always brought a good mood to the class and made learning French more fun. The classes are only limited to 10 people ours had around 8/9 as some people left early (you can do 2/3/4 week courses). The two chefs always prepared delicious meals everyday for breakfast and lunch. Never had the same meal twice. Great experience for surrounding yourself completely in the French language all day for a month to improve your French set in the picturesque town of VilleFranche-Sur-Mer. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!\! I attended the Institut in 2019 and it was one of the best experience I’ve had! My level of French increased so much that I even got a « certificat avec mention bien » (like a most improved award haha). That’s just how excellent their teaching program is! I was able to continue my stay in France comfortably speaking with anyone, at any level of complexity, even thought I had arrived knowing almost no French. The town is gorgeous, the ability to travel to different cities or countries was also great. The Institut is beautiful, the staff is great, the food was delicious! Overall 10/10 recommend. For my stay we had an age range of 18-70s, my class was mostly 20-40s and I still keep in contact with some of them. Didn’t have the best experience with the accommodation due to bed bugs (nightmare), but it was an old apartment with the cutest view! Sad I couldn’t stay in it - but that was no one’s fault and they were very helpful to help me figure it all out. Currently planning my return for next year.
