All Rights Reserved # Requirements ## Advocating for your Success Regional Airlines find when they interview candidates *after* they have completed all of their training that, at best, only 50% are qualified to be offered a position. COAST FLIGHT created a SOLUTION: - The ACT Program *Advocates* for candidates long before you ever invest in your time or finances. - Coast Flight Training *prescreens* all applicants *prior* to them ever beginning their training. - Four tiered screening process empowers candidates to make informed decisions prior to pursuing your career. - Don’t spend your time and money at some fast track school before knowing you qualify. [APPLY FOR SCREENING](https://iflycoast.com/aviation-career-training-program) ## Required Flight Ratings Airline Pilots must have a valid Commercial Pilot Certificate, Instrument Rating and Airline Transport Pilot Certificate to be Pilot in Command. You must have a minimum of 1,500 hours of flight time, be over the age of 23 and be able to pass a **1st Class Medical exam**. You can receive your Commercial Pilot Certificate at 18, Restricted ATP at 21 and your ATP certificate at 23. ## Education Most Major Commercial Airlines require a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university along with the flight ratings listed above. ## Vision Airline Pilots must have 20/20 vision. You can use corrective glasses or contacts to pass this requirement. If you are color-blind, you can consult an Aero Medical Examiner for more information. ## Background Checks Background checks are performed by some airlines; some have certain other pre-employment checks. Felonies will disqualify candidates. Misdemeanors and DUIs are handled at the discretion of the particular airline. To qualify for the Coast—ACT Program, you must: - be be at least 17 years of age; - be able to pass a first class medical (<http://www.faa.gov/pilots/amelocator/>); - be a US citizen; - hold a current US passport; - be proficient in English; - No more than 2 moving violations on your driving record in the past 3 years; - hold a high school diploma (or GED); and - have or be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program. An online bachelor’s degree is available through Indian Hills Community College. It is highly recommended you enroll in this program as a college degree is required to fly for any major airline in the country. ## Flight Training Requirements - Uphold required academic standards - Respect the required code of conduct ## Airline Requirements Upon graduation from the flight training program at Coast Flight, you will work as a Certified Flight Instructor to build the hours required for airline employment. To start flying at any airline, you must accumulate the following flight hours: - 1,500 – hours total time - 50 – hours multi engine - 75 – hours instrument - 500 – hours cross country - 100 – night hours - ATP Written Exam Completed ## Criminal Offense and Canadian Clearance Any pilot who has been convicted of a criminal offense within the past five years will be prohibited from gaining Canadian clearance, nor will be hired for a flight job. After five years, the pilot has to apply and receive a wavier indicating that he/she is eligible to enter into Canada. Any conviction that a pilot receives in his/her lifetime will require the same waiver authorization to be obtained.
