He was present when [Kevin McCallister](https://homealone.fandom.com/wiki/Kevin_McCallister "Kevin McCallister") entered and asked where the lobby was. Trump replied, "Down the hall and to the left."[\[1\]](https://homealone.fandom.com/wiki/Donald_Trump#cite_note-1) ## Behind the scenes Donald Trump portrays [himself](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Trump "wikipedia:Donald Trump") in this cameo role, though his name is not spoken in the film. At the time, he was the actual owner of the Plaza Hotel and, according to director [Chris Columbus](https://homealone.fandom.com/wiki/Chris_Columbus "Chris Columbus"), allowed filming on the property on the condition that he be given a cameo in the film.[\[2\]](https://homealone.fandom.com/wiki/Donald_Trump#cite_note-2) However, Trump denied this, claiming that the production crew begged him to be in the movie.[\[3\]](https://homealone.fandom.com/wiki/Donald_Trump#cite_note-3) Columbus later expressed desire to cut Trump from the film, stating it has "become this curse. It's become an albatross for me. I just wish it was gone." He sarcastically added, "I can't cut it. If I cut it, I'll probably be sent out of the country.
