Beginners will be introduced to woodworking basics, specific skills in measurement, layout, and the proper use of hand tools. Students will make a few small projects with step-by-step procedures and instructions. The more advanced students will continue using these skills while working more independently on individual projects. Safety is stressed at all levels.

For furniture refinishing the first class will be an orientation to evaluate the piece, and an overview of different types of finishes and solvents. Students are responsible for all materials, solvents, and finishes. Reconstruction is held to a minimum.
