Never ever buy a pizza base. They are awful Nd they're full of crap.
Tip 150 gr flour in a bowl and 1/4 7g pack of dried instant yeast (or a teaspoon)
100 ml of warm water and glug (about 1 tablespoon) of olive oil.
Mix with fork until all clings together.
Sprinkle some flour on surface.
Tip mix onto flour, sprinke a teaspoon of salt and work with hands for 5 minutes. Adding more flour if it gets too sticky.
When you've got a ball, put it back in the bowl.
Add another table spoon of oil to the bowl. Flip over the ball and make sure it's covered in oil.
Put cling film on top and leave for an hour.
This is not really necessary, if you like a thin pizza, but in that case the yeast was never really necessary.
Roll out and flatten into a pizza shape or any shape you like and shift onto the tray you will bake it on.
Boil the kettle and fill a bowl with water, Place it at the bottom of the oven. Leave the pizza base in there for 15 minutes with the bowl of water on a very low heat.
Take out and put oven to 230 degrees while you do the topping you like.
Once right temperature, put in.
The bowl of water remains during the cooking process.
It'll give you a really nice base instead of dry.
Even if you ignore everything I say, use the bowl idea with your shop bought base.
You can freeze at the ball covered in oil stage. Just let defrost and then do the flattening and rolling from that point.
1 bag of flour (50p) is 15 pizza bases.
4 7g sachet of yeast (45p) is 15 pizzas.
The olive oil you need is about 250 ml (75p)
Total for 15 pizzas £1.70
Or about 12 p a pizza.
They taste much better, you know exactly what's in it plus there's nothing more satisfying than getting brilliant at making your own pizza! |

Hey,
I thought one day I'd like to try making Lamacun which is like a Turkish pizza/flatbread with minced lamb and spices.
<https://www.themediterraneandish.com/easy-turkish-lahmacun-recipe/>
I have a couple of shop pizza bases So was wondering how long they'd take in the oven on a pizza stone
My bases say to put them in the oven at 200 Degrees C for 5 mins (for a pizza)

You might get away with such a low temperature with a pizza base. But to cook any pizza you need a temp of 450 degrees C minimum.

I usually make pizza at 230C for about 12-13 minutes. Is the topping raw or cooked? Although if the meat is minced short times should be okay, too.

In the recipe I posted it seems like the topping is raw (uncooked) but spread very thin on the dough. Maybe it will be OK?

I tried making it (the topping anyway), was really very nice but think I put too much on and the base wasnt as crispy as I thought it would be, maybe I should have fried the mince before putting it on top?

I haven’t made Lahmacun but I’ve made Pide a couple of times. Sounds like a similar topping, but I cook the meat first.
