Haha I know some states will for an interview for the nominated person to be JP and only if they pass the interview, they will get the title. Some states require you to have a Datoship prior to get JP. Again JP is hard to get or arrange nowadays because not many states is giving out JP. Johor had retracted all the JP and Selangor had not given any JP for many many years. Again, different state different practice ... Malacca will be giving out JP this year after they stop giving JP I think last year or two years ago. How come you are so interested to know about JP? You want to get one? Haha... If you are thinking to get JP to certify documents and make money, then I would say forget about it.. You can only make RM5 per signature ... Because commissioner of Oath is charging less than RM5 per signature.. Of course marriage wan can charge abit higher but still very low fee. I think majority of the JP is not actively certifying doc .... |

I know a lot of PS don't pursue law. But your general knowledge must be very good. If u think u can pass JP, aim higher. There's a examination for PS nowadays. |

His partner is underground member, high ranks... so got power and money but cannot be front person... therefore naturally my colleague is the "face".. after few years mingling with royalty, then get JP lar.. that's all. |

[](https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=findpost&pid=74754142) yes. it's like a small office with maybe 1-2 clerk/typists. last time not many ppl have own PC/laptop/typewriter and/or printer, and need to make statutory declaration/petition/letter of support/etc. and need endorsement from commissioner of oaths. so my dad's friend is one such 'entrepeneur'. 1 letter can cost as low as rm10. if you just need the commisioner of oaths' stamp, then that's rm5 per stamp or something. (i just realise why i gave him rm50, it's bcos he's da'd friend) last time when govt. offices were at wisma persekutuan or some building, there would even have small tables open around the parking lots doing such work. Some may also think that you need a law backgorund in order to get a JP.... But it is not the case. Different state practice differently.. Some states don't even give out JP for years esspecially Johor and Selangor. JP may be regarded as lower than Dato to many people, but it all depends how you want to use it. But getting a JP is definitely harder than getting a Datoship. That is why some people who got the JP appreciate it more than a Dato title. |

He has the JP badges all over his cars but only 1 dato badge on his 7 series . |

If is common to have JP in Commonwealth countries ... So if you tell people you are a JP in oversea, they will likely know what it is .... But I doubt they know what is Dato as it is only available in Malaysia and Indonesia. Very few states is giving out JP now ....in fact not many were given in recent years. |

Do you have any idea which state does the White JP badge from ? No la not for earning money. Just title-savvy like most Malaysians but not interested in Datoship though. |
