Dalgona Whipped Coffee
Light, airy, coffee cloud of fluffy caffeine ready to enjoy.
Okay, what is this trend?
When dalgona whipped coffee first made it’s debut, I really didn’t know what to think. How is it possible to whip coffee to a beautiful, shiny, airy, meringue-like cloud?
This recipe needs to be made by anyone who loves coffee! No matter where you scroll, you will keep seeing this new fluffy dalgona coffee trend.
Dalgona coffee is inspired by a South Korean candy, dalgona. The candy is a toffee sponge that mimics the dreamy dollop of airy caffeine that you see across your newsfeeds.
How to make dalgona coffee
Dalgona coffee is simple to make! Combine instant coffee with hot water and sugar. Whisk the coffee concoction in a bowl with a mixer (or by hand, it’s a workout!) for about 8 minutes.
If whisking by hand, it may take up to 10-12 minutes depending on your ability (where are my power whisk-ers?!)
When the beautiful, shiny, caramel toned coffee fluff is ready, place the whipped coffee fluff into a glass atop chilled or steamed milk using a spoon.
The dalgona coffee trend is so enjoyable because of the many different versions. Add some pumpkin or chai spice or even some cocoa or matcha powder! Possibilities are available, so experiment!
Maybe a peppermint mocha dalgona should be in the works for Christmas?
Dalgona coffee fluff, all whipped up! You want to achieve peaks similar to a meringue.
Dalgona coffee brings a new sense of playfulness to our everyday coffee routines. You may not catch me whipping up dalgona coffee everyday, but that’s what makes them great; they’re easy to whip up whenever you want it!
Invite others to the dalgona coffee fun! Dalgona coffees will impress your family or friends when you bust out these fluffy caffeine clouds. Trust me, they will love it and so will you.
My favorite time to make dalgona coffee is on my days off. It’s one part special treat and one part self care (because I definitely need my caffeine).
Please share with me the versions of dalgona coffee that you love. While this is just a basic recipe, feel free to try a few new things!
For less caffeine, you can easily reduce the amount of instant coffee or espresso down to 1 equal part to the sugar and water.

1 cup milk, hot or on ice
Instructions
How to make dalgona style whipped coffee
Pour the instant coffees, sugar, and hot water into a medium bowl. Using a hand mixer, blend on high speed until stiff peaks form, about 5-8 minutes. If whisking by hand, this can take about 10 minutes with vigorous whisking.
Grab your favorite cup and fill with hot milk or pour milk over ice. Dollop the whipped coffee over the milk. Enjoy!
Notes
There are many variations of this recipe on the net. Try adding some cocoa powder to make it a mocha or subbing in some matcha powder!
