We're going to start here with Paramount. Skydance, that company pointed to plans of combining Paramount Plus with HBO Max as part of its acquisition of Warner Brothers Discovery. Uh, so one platform is what they're talking about here, Brooke, following that acquisition. Company expects that transaction to close, remember, in the third quarter. Paramount CEO David Ellison saying the deal is pro competition. It's pro consumer, it's pro creative community. This is about reinventing the business, Ellison says.\n00:30\nBrooke DePalma\nAnd this is this is sort of the beginning to the end of this saga that just has been ongoing for months now. Paramount Skydance though still a bit on the sidelines when it comes to Wall Street's taste. We do have when it comes to ratings, 13 holds, two buys and six sells on Paramount Skydance stock still, even following this announcement that they ultimately did end up having the superior bid in the end. and shares now down around 2% as we make our way down to the close. But the implications of this are are kind of exciting when you think about what exactly this could mean. It sounds like they're going to combine HBO Max with Paramount Plus. And on top of that, they said that they're also going to target at least 30 theatrical films in theaters annually. And when you think about that, that was something that Netflix kind of was getting contested against like, okay, what does this mean for releasing these really historical Warner Brothers films in theaters? Paramount saying saying here that they're going to honor that tradition.\n01:17\nSpeaker A\nAll right. Moving on. Elevance Health, taking a hit as the centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services intends to place sanctions on the company's operations. So this is a bit of a complicated one. I thought uh good write up in Bloomberg. Basically as they as they lay it out, Elevance Health faces sanctions from Medicare that will block its plans from enrolling new Medicare advantage members by the end of I guess this month. and apparently this all relates to allegations that the insurer did not comply with certain rules around risk adjustment is what they're saying.\n01:49\nBrooke DePalma\nAnd the impact of this is definitely a bit of of a stock slide here. We're down about 8 and a half% moving into the close. And when you think about what the street was thinking of this one heading into this announcement today, we did have most most with a buy rating of 13, 11 holds and no sells on the street. But this also comes at a time where we've really been chatting a lot about the cost and the affordability of health insurance and and so on. And so this definitely have a larger implications there as well.\n02:20\nSpeaker A\nAnd finally a look here at Coherent as Nvidia teams up with the company to develop optics tech. What do you make of that one?\n02:32\nBrooke DePalma\nI mean, definitely what we see so far is Coherent moving higher on this, up more than 14% as we make our way to the close. Over the past year, this stock has been on an absolute tear. It's been up over 290%. And what we're really hearing is just Nvidia continuing to partner with companies not necessarily in a tie up, but just a partnership in order to continue to invest back in the platform. Right now, this is a featured company highlighted within the stock blog on Yahoo Finance. and what it's really saying there is that they're scaling up their networking business in order to compete, in order to bet that relatively smaller uh industries can help and make large scale AI networks more energy efficient, really reducing a bottleneck within this AI growth story here.\n03:19\nSpeaker A\nYeah, so all in, Nvidia's all in for $4 billion, it looks like, $2 billion in Lumentum and then $2 billion in Coherent, um, per reports, both tie-ups include purchase agreements and access rights for advanced laser components and the money apparently is going to go towards supporting R&D, research and development. And you're right, I mean both are shooting higher. Lumentum, nice pop, same with Coherent.\n03:40\nBrooke DePalma\nAnd keep in mind Nvidia moving higher up nearly three 3% as sort of we've had this momentum return within markets after earlier losses during today's trading session.\n03:52\nSpeaker A\nAll right. This comes after Warner Bros. Discovery ([WBD](https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/WBD)) accepted Paramount's ([PSKY](https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/PSKY)) acquisition bid.\n\nElevance ([ELV](https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/ELV)) stock is dropping after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services planned sanctions on the company.\n\nNvidia ([NVDA](https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/NVDA)) and Coherent ([COHR](https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/COHR)) announced a strategic partnership on developing optics technology.\n\nTo watch more expert insights and analysis on the latest market action, check out more [Market Domination](https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/videos\/series\/market-domination\/).\n\nVideo Transcript\n\n00:00  Speaker A\n\nYahoo Finance's Brooke DePalma joining me now for a look at Paramount, Elevance Health and Coherent. We're going to start here with Paramount. Skydance, that company pointed to plans of combining Paramount Plus with HBO Max as part of its acquisition of Warner Brothers Discovery. Uh, so one platform is what they're talking about here, Brooke, following that acquisition. Company expects that transaction to close, remember, in the third quarter. Paramount CEO David Ellison saying the deal is pro competition. It's pro consumer, it's pro creative community. This is about reinventing the business, Ellison says.\n\n00:30  Brooke DePalma\n\nAnd this is this is sort of the beginning to the end of this saga that just has been ongoing for months now. Paramount Skydance though still a bit on the sidelines when it comes to Wall Street's taste. We do have when it comes to ratings, 13 holds, two buys and six sells on Paramount Skydance stock still, even following this announcement that they ultimately did end up having the superior bid in the end. and shares now down around 2% as we make our way down to the close. But the implications of this are are kind of exciting when you think about what exactly this could mean. It sounds like they're going to combine HBO Max with Paramount Plus. And on top of that, they said that they're also going to target at least 30 theatrical films in theaters annually. And when you think about that, that was something that Netflix kind of was getting contested against like, okay, what does this mean for releasing these really historical Warner Brothers films in theaters? Paramount saying saying here that they're going to honor that tradition.\n\n01:17  Speaker A\n\nAll right. Moving on. Elevance Health, taking a hit as the centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services intends to place sanctions on the company's operations. So this is a bit of a complicated one. I thought uh good write up in Bloomberg. Basically as they as they lay it out, Elevance Health faces sanctions from Medicare that will block its plans from enrolling new Medicare advantage members by the end of I guess this month. and apparently this all relates to allegations that the insurer did not comply with certain rules around risk adjustment is what they're saying.\n\n01:49  Brooke DePalma\n\nAnd the impact of this is definitely a bit of of a stock slide here. We're down about 8 and a half% moving into the close. And when you think about what the street was thinking of this one heading into this announcement today, we did have most most with a buy rating of 13, 11 holds and no sells on the street. But this also comes at a time where we've really been chatting a lot about the cost and the affordability of health insurance and and so on. And so this definitely have a larger implications there as well.\n\n02:20  Speaker A\n\nAnd finally a look here at Coherent as Nvidia teams up with the company to develop optics tech. What do you make of that one?\n\n02:32  Brooke DePalma\n\nI mean, definitely what we see so far is Coherent moving higher on this, up more than 14% as we make our way to the close. Over the past year, this stock has been on an absolute tear. It's been up over 290%. And what we're really hearing is just Nvidia continuing to partner with companies not necessarily in a tie up, but just a partnership in order to continue to invest back in the platform. Right now, this is a featured company highlighted within the stock blog on Yahoo Finance. and what it's really saying there is that they're scaling up their networking business in order to compete, in order to bet that relatively smaller uh industries can help and make large scale AI networks more energy efficient, really reducing a bottleneck within this AI growth story here.\n\n03:19  Speaker A\n\nYeah, so all in, Nvidia's all in for \\$4 billion, it looks like, \\$2 billion in Lumentum and then \\$2 billion in Coherent, um, per reports, both tie-ups include purchase agreements and access rights for advanced laser components and the money apparently is going to go towards supporting R\\&D, research and development. And you're right, I mean both are shooting higher. Lumentum, nice pop, same with Coherent.\n\n03:40  Brooke DePalma\n\nAnd keep in mind Nvidia moving higher up nearly three 3% as sort of we've had this momentum return within markets after earlier losses during today's trading session.\n\n03:52  Speaker A\n\nAll right. We're going to start here with Paramount. Skydance, that company pointed to plans of combining Paramount Plus with HBO Max as part of its acquisition of Warner Brothers Discovery. Uh, so one platform is what they're talking about here, Brooke, following that acquisition. Company expects that transaction to close, remember, in the third quarter. Paramount CEO David Ellison saying the deal is pro competition. It's pro consumer, it's pro creative community. This is about reinventing the business, Ellison says.\n\n00:30  Brooke DePalma\n\nAnd this is this is sort of the beginning to the end of this saga that just has been ongoing for months now. Paramount Skydance though still a bit on the sidelines when it comes to Wall Street's taste. We do have when it comes to ratings, 13 holds, two buys and six sells on Paramount Skydance stock still, even following this announcement that they ultimately did end up having the superior bid in the end. and shares now down around 2% as we make our way down to the close. But the implications of this are are kind of exciting when you think about what exactly this could mean. It sounds like they're going to combine HBO Max with Paramount Plus. And on top of that, they said that they're also going to target at least 30 theatrical films in theaters annually. And when you think about that, that was something that Netflix kind of was getting contested against like, okay, what does this mean for releasing these really historical Warner Brothers films in theaters? Paramount saying saying here that they're going to honor that tradition.\n\n01:17  Speaker A\n\nAll right. Moving on. Elevance Health, taking a hit as the centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services intends to place sanctions on the company's operations. So this is a bit of a complicated one. I thought uh good write up in Bloomberg. Basically as they as they lay it out, Elevance Health faces sanctions from Medicare that will block its plans from enrolling new Medicare advantage members by the end of I guess this month. and apparently this all relates to allegations that the insurer did not comply with certain rules around risk adjustment is what they're saying.\n\n01:49  Brooke DePalma\n\nAnd the impact of this is definitely a bit of of a stock slide here. We're down about 8 and a half% moving into the close. And when you think about what the street was thinking of this one heading into this announcement today, we did have most most with a buy rating of 13, 11 holds and no sells on the street. But this also comes at a time where we've really been chatting a lot about the cost and the affordability of health insurance and and so on. And so this definitely have a larger implications there as well.\n\n02:20  Speaker A\n\nAnd finally a look here at Coherent as Nvidia teams up with the company to develop optics tech. What do you make of that one?\n\n02:32  Brooke DePalma\n\nI mean, definitely what we see so far is Coherent moving higher on this, up more than 14% as we make our way to the close. Over the past year, this stock has been on an absolute tear. It's been up over 290%. And what we're really hearing is just Nvidia continuing to partner with companies not necessarily in a tie up, but just a partnership in order to continue to invest back in the platform. Right now, this is a featured company highlighted within the stock blog on Yahoo Finance. and what it's really saying there is that they're scaling up their networking business in order to compete, in order to bet that relatively smaller uh industries can help and make large scale AI networks more energy efficient, really reducing a bottleneck within this AI growth story here.\n\n03:19  Speaker A\n\nYeah, so all in, Nvidia's all in for \\$4 billion, it looks like, \\$2 billion in Lumentum and then \\$2 billion in Coherent, um, per reports, both tie-ups include purchase agreements and access rights for advanced laser components and the money apparently is going to go towards supporting R\\&D, research and development. And you're right, I mean both are shooting higher. Elevance ([ELV](https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/ELV)) stock is dropping after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services planned sanctions on the company. Nvidia ([NVDA](https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/NVDA)) and Coherent ([COHR](https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/COHR)) announced a strategic partnership on developing optics technology. Video Transcript 00:00 Speaker A Yahoo Finance's Brooke DePalma joining me now for a look at Paramount, Elevance Health and Coherent. We're going to start here with Paramount. Skydance, that company pointed to plans of combining Paramount Plus with HBO Max as part of its acquisition of Warner Brothers Discovery. Uh, so one platform is what they're talking about here, Brooke, following that acquisition. Company expects that transaction to close, remember, in the third quarter. Paramount CEO David Ellison saying the deal is pro competition. It's pro consumer, it's pro creative community. This is about reinventing the business, Ellison says. 00:30 Brooke DePalma And this is this is sort of the beginning to the end of this saga that just has been ongoing for months now. Paramount Skydance though still a bit on the sidelines when it comes to Wall Street's taste. We do have when it comes to ratings, 13 holds, two buys and six sells on Paramount Skydance stock still, even following this announcement that they ultimately did end up having the superior bid in the end. and shares now down around 2% as we make our way down to the close. But the implications of this are are kind of exciting when you think about what exactly this could mean. It sounds like they're going to combine HBO Max with Paramount Plus. And on top of that, they said that they're also going to target at least 30 theatrical films in theaters annually. And when you think about that, that was something that Netflix kind of was getting contested against like, okay, what does this mean for releasing these really historical Warner Brothers films in theaters? Paramount saying saying here that they're going to honor that tradition. 01:17 Speaker A All right. Moving on. Elevance Health, taking a hit as the centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services intends to place sanctions on the company's operations. So this is a bit of a complicated one. I thought uh good write up in Bloomberg. Basically as they as they lay it out, Elevance Health faces sanctions from Medicare that will block its plans from enrolling new Medicare advantage members by the end of I guess this month. and apparently this all relates to allegations that the insurer did not comply with certain rules around risk adjustment is what they're saying. 01:49 Brooke DePalma And the impact of this is definitely a bit of of a stock slide here. We're down about 8 and a half% moving into the close. And when you think about what the street was thinking of this one heading into this announcement today, we did have most most with a buy rating of 13, 11 holds and no sells on the street. But this also comes at a time where we've really been chatting a lot about the cost and the affordability of health insurance and and so on. And so this definitely have a larger implications there as well. 02:20 Speaker A And finally a look here at Coherent as Nvidia teams up with the company to develop optics tech. What do you make of that one? 02:32 Brooke DePalma I mean, definitely what we see so far is Coherent moving higher on this, up more than 14% as we make our way to the close. Over the past year, this stock has been on an absolute tear. It's been up over 290%. And what we're really hearing is just Nvidia continuing to partner with companies not necessarily in a tie up, but just a partnership in order to continue to invest back in the platform. Right now, this is a featured company highlighted within the stock blog on Yahoo Finance. and what it's really saying there is that they're scaling up their networking business in order to compete, in order to bet that relatively smaller uh industries can help and make large scale AI networks more energy efficient, really reducing a bottleneck within this AI growth story here. 03:19 Speaker A Yeah, so all in, Nvidia's all in for \$4 billion, it looks like, \$2 billion in Lumentum and then \$2 billion in Coherent, um, per reports, both tie-ups include purchase agreements and access rights for advanced laser components and the money apparently is going to go towards supporting R\&D, research and development. And you're right, I mean both are shooting higher. Lumentum, nice pop, same with Coherent. 03:40 Brooke DePalma And keep in mind Nvidia moving higher up nearly three 3% as sort of we've had this momentum return within markets after earlier losses during today's trading session. 03:52 Speaker A All right. Elevance Health, taking a hit as the centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services intends to place sanctions on the company's operations. So this is a bit of a complicated one. I thought uh good write up in Bloomberg. Basically as they as they lay it out, Elevance Health faces sanctions from Medicare that will block its plans from enrolling new Medicare advantage members by the end of I guess this month. and apparently this all relates to allegations that the insurer did not comply with certain rules around risk adjustment is what they're saying. 01:49 Brooke DePalma And the impact of this is definitely a bit of of a stock slide here. We're down about 8 and a half% moving into the close. And when you think about what the street was thinking of this one heading into this announcement today, we did have most most with a buy rating of 13, 11 holds and no sells on the street. But this also comes at a time where we've really been chatting a lot about the cost and the affordability of health insurance and and so on. And so this definitely have a larger implications there as well. 02:20 Speaker A And finally a look here at Coherent as Nvidia teams up with the company to develop optics tech. What do you make of that one? 02:32 Brooke DePalma I mean, definitely what we see so far is Coherent moving higher on this, up more than 14% as we make our way to the close. Over the past year, this stock has been on an absolute tear. It's been up over 290%. And what we're really hearing is just Nvidia continuing to partner with companies not necessarily in a tie up, but just a partnership in order to continue to invest back in the platform. Right now, this is a featured company highlighted within the stock blog on Yahoo Finance. and what it's really saying there is that they're scaling up their networking business in order to compete, in order to bet that relatively smaller uh industries can help and make large scale AI networks more energy efficient, really reducing a bottleneck within this AI growth story here. 03:19 Speaker A Yeah, so all in, Nvidia's all in for \$4 billion, it looks like, \$2 billion in Lumentum and then \$2 billion in Coherent, um, per reports, both tie-ups include purchase agreements and access rights for advanced laser components and the money apparently is going to go towards supporting R\&D, research and development. And you're right, I mean both are shooting higher. Lumentum, nice pop, same with Coherent. 03:40 Brooke DePalma And keep in mind Nvidia moving higher up nearly three 3% as sort of we've had this momentum return within markets after earlier losses during today's trading session. 03:52 Speaker A All right.
