If you strip out food and energy prices, volatile food and energy prices, you get 0.3%, which is right in line with estimates and also unchanged from the prior month.\n00:19\nSpeaker A\nUh the year over year number at 2.9% also in line with estimates and the core year over year gain of 3.1% also in line with what economists have been estimating.\n00:29\nSpeaker A\nSo, seeing some heat there on the headline number, we'll have to dig into um the components here and figure out exactly what was contributing to that. But it doesn't seem like here, at least at first blush, that there was anything that would um dissuade the market from its currently pretty firmly held view uh that the Fed is going to cut a quarter point at its meeting next week.\n00:43\nSpeaker A\nYou see futures here holding on to some modest gains. Remember, of course, we saw record closes again yesterday for the S&P and the Nasdaq. So, we could see an extension of those gains here today.\n00:54\nSpeaker A\nSo, again, just quickly recapping the numbers, seeing a 4\/10th of a percent gain in August consumer prices month over month. If you strip out food and energy, you get a 0.3% gain, which was in line with estimates. And we're seeing uh for the moment here, in terms of reaction in the markets, we've got uh equity futures still pointing to a little bit of a higher open here. Month over month 0.4% gain in August\n\n00:09 Speaker A\n\non the headline. If you strip out food and energy prices, volatile food and energy prices, you get 0.3%, which is right in line with estimates and also unchanged from the prior month.\n\n00:19 Speaker A\n\nUh the year over year number at 2.9% also in line with estimates and the core year over year gain of 3.1% also in line with what economists have been estimating.\n\n00:29 Speaker A\n\nSo, seeing some heat there on the headline number, we'll have to dig into um the components here and figure out exactly what was contributing to that. But it doesn't seem like here, at least at first blush, that there was anything that would um dissuade the market from its currently pretty firmly held view uh that the Fed is going to cut a quarter point at its meeting next week.\n\n00:43 Speaker A\n\nYou see futures here holding on to some modest gains. Remember, of course, we saw record closes again yesterday for the S\\&P and the Nasdaq. So, we could see an extension of those gains here today.\n\n00:54 Speaker A\n\nSo, again, just quickly recapping the numbers, seeing a 4\/10th of a percent gain in August consumer prices month over month. If you strip out food and energy, you get a 0.3% gain, which was in line with estimates. And we're seeing uh for the moment here, in terms of reaction in the markets, we've got uh equity futures still pointing to a little bit of a higher open here. Month over month 0.4% gain in August 00:09 Speaker A on the headline. If you strip out food and energy prices, volatile food and energy prices, you get 0.3%, which is right in line with estimates and also unchanged from the prior month. 00:19 Speaker A Uh the year over year number at 2.9% also in line with estimates and the core year over year gain of 3.1% also in line with what economists have been estimating. 00:29 Speaker A So, seeing some heat there on the headline number, we'll have to dig into um the components here and figure out exactly what was contributing to that. But it doesn't seem like here, at least at first blush, that there was anything that would um dissuade the market from its currently pretty firmly held view uh that the Fed is going to cut a quarter point at its meeting next week. 00:43 Speaker A You see futures here holding on to some modest gains. Remember, of course, we saw record closes again yesterday for the S\&P and the Nasdaq. So, we could see an extension of those gains here today. 00:54 Speaker A So, again, just quickly recapping the numbers, seeing a 4/10th of a percent gain in August consumer prices month over month. If you strip out food and energy, you get a 0.3% gain, which was in line with estimates. And we're seeing uh for the moment here, in terms of reaction in the markets, we've got uh equity futures still pointing to a little bit of a higher open here.
