They're in. The part on robot taxis I thought was interesting. Um, just walk us through because you wrote about this. How how the sort of the analyst is kind of framing that opportunity for Musk and how he sort of compares and contrasts Tesla and Waymo in that fight.\n00:27\nPras Subramanian\nSo, you know, nothing new here, right? So the analyst here, um, Alexander Perry talking about how Tesla has an advantage from both a, you know, bill of materials point of view. They they build these cars, their their robotaxes are cheaper because they're camera- based. They don't require all these sensor suites that that a Waymo might require. And he's essentially saying that a Waymo costs $150,000 to make, whereas a Tesla can be 40,000 for a Model Y, right?\n00:54\nPras Subramanian\nSo, huge benefit there. Uh and then also the fact that that's from, you know, autonomous robotaxi, but also just sort of the FSD kind of, but like but from a ride hailing point of view, talking comparing to Uber and Lyft, you know, there's no human driver. And their calculation show that the human driver costs about half, you know, for a $20 ride, average ride, about 960 is the driver's, you know, uh compensation. So if Tesla has robotaxis, they're they're at half that, right?\n01:21\nPras Subramanian\nSo that's sort of the the bet is cheaper to build uh and then also from the ride hailing point of view you have the actual no drivers. that's good for a comparing against ridehailing company. So, this guy says that 52% of the Tesla's enterprise value that he that he that he's calculated is just robotaxis uh alone. So, there you go, right?\n01:36\nSpeaker A\nPolymarket all over this. Here's what they got, ready? They say uh Polymarket showing here, let me get this right. 22% expect Tesla to launch robotaxis in California by this summer, by June 30th. What does the likelihood of that look like in your opinion?\n01:55\nPras Subramanian\nI think that's too low, to be honest with you. I think it is too low because right now they're just they're just basically off operating a ridehailing service in California, right? They have the cars there that are being picked up by the Tesla app and there's a driver in there, right? They have not even applied for the the permits that Waymo has to operate a autonomous ridehailing service. And that takes months. You know, you file, it doesn't mean it happens right away. It takes months\n02:22\nPras Subramanian\nand you got to prove that your your vehicles are safe. You got to do a number of different things that the California utilities which runs that that program uh has to see. So if you're if they're saying by June 30th, 22% chance, I mean, maybe that's okay. Uh you know, you know, obviously the the the thing with Polymarket is and and Kalshi is that it's all basically people with inside info just basically making making it aware. But um yeah, I just think that it's it's going to be hard by by mid-year.\n02:49\nSpeaker A\nWhat about the full self-driving uh as a software business? The analyst dug into that as well?\n02:56\nPras Subramanian\nYeah, I mean, uh if if you if you talk about like we talk about the Model Y with just the sensor suite, the camera suite. It's easier to make these cars, cheaper to make, more scalable. that that cyber cab that you showed in that in that in that that that Polymarket thing is the cheap bespoke, you know, uh basically uh it's purpose built just for a robotaxi. So they're able to make these cars cheaper. But with regards to FSD, look, it's early stages here. Um FSD adoption the analyst says sees it increasing. It's over just a little more than 10% right now.\n03:22\nPras Subramanian\nYou know, Musk needs to see that number go up to get more money in his compensation plan. So that's there's going to be some uh motivation there. Uh but also uh if he looks at it as a sum of the parts analysis, 19% of that is just FSD. 50% or so was the robotaxi. So 70% just there thereabouts is robotaxis and full self driving are what this analyst says are the full enterprise value of Tesla.\n03:45\nSpeaker A\nDoes does the analyst big picture, does this note sort of dovetail with with how Musk talks about the future of Tesla, which is AI, autonomy, robots?\n03:57\nPras Subramanian\nYeah, I think so. I mean, again, that sum of the parts analysis, 19% of that is just the automotive business. But guess what? The automotive business makes 19 90% of the profits, right? So uh it's sort of the future. What does Tesla look like two years, three years, four years, five years down the line? Uh it's going to be robotics, it's going to be cyber cabs, it's going to be robotaxis. Uh you know, there's a lot there that's very interesting and and very future forward looking. The question is can Musk deliver, right?\n04:24\nPras Subramanian\nUh he has shown that he can. Firm laying out a bullish outlook on the company's autonomous efforts and Yahoo Finance's Pras Subramanian joins now with more Pras.\n\n00:10  Speaker A\n\nAll right, so our Bank of America they reinstate coverage of Tesla with a buy rating, all right? They're in. The part on robot taxis I thought was interesting. Um, just walk us through because you wrote about this. How how the sort of the analyst is kind of framing that opportunity for Musk and how he sort of compares and contrasts Tesla and Waymo in that fight.\n\n00:27  Pras Subramanian\n\nSo, you know, nothing new here, right? So the analyst here, um, Alexander Perry talking about how Tesla has an advantage from both a, you know, bill of materials point of view. They they build these cars, their their robotaxes are cheaper because they're camera- based. They don't require all these sensor suites that that a Waymo might require. And he's essentially saying that a Waymo costs \\$150,000 to make, whereas a Tesla can be 40,000 for a Model Y, right?\n\n00:54  Pras Subramanian\n\nSo, huge benefit there. Uh and then also the fact that that's from, you know, autonomous robotaxi, but also just sort of the FSD kind of, but like but from a ride hailing point of view, talking comparing to Uber and Lyft, you know, there's no human driver. And their calculation show that the human driver costs about half, you know, for a \\$20 ride, average ride, about 960 is the driver's, you know, uh compensation. So if Tesla has robotaxis, they're they're at half that, right?\n\n01:21  Pras Subramanian\n\nSo that's sort of the the bet is cheaper to build uh and then also from the ride hailing point of view you have the actual no drivers. that's good for a comparing against ridehailing company. So, this guy says that 52% of the Tesla's enterprise value that he that he that he's calculated is just robotaxis uh alone. So, there you go, right?\n\n01:36  Speaker A\n\nPolymarket all over this. Here's what they got, ready? They say uh Polymarket showing here, let me get this right. 22% expect Tesla to launch robotaxis in California by this summer, by June 30th. What does the likelihood of that look like in your opinion?\n\n01:55  Pras Subramanian\n\nI think that's too low, to be honest with you. I think it is too low because right now they're just they're just basically off operating a ridehailing service in California, right? They have the cars there that are being picked up by the Tesla app and there's a driver in there, right? They have not even applied for the the permits that Waymo has to operate a autonomous ridehailing service. And that takes months. You know, you file, it doesn't mean it happens right away. It takes months\n\n02:22  Pras Subramanian\n\nand you got to prove that your your vehicles are safe. You got to do a number of different things that the California utilities which runs that that program uh has to see. So if you're if they're saying by June 30th, 22% chance, I mean, maybe that's okay. Uh you know, you know, obviously the the the thing with Polymarket is and and Kalshi is that it's all basically people with inside info just basically making making it aware. But um yeah, I just think that it's it's going to be hard by by mid-year.\n\n02:49  Speaker A\n\nWhat about the full self-driving uh as a software business? The analyst dug into that as well?\n\n02:56  Pras Subramanian\n\nYeah, I mean, uh if if you if you talk about like we talk about the Model Y with just the sensor suite, the camera suite. It's easier to make these cars, cheaper to make, more scalable. that that cyber cab that you showed in that in that in that that that Polymarket thing is the cheap bespoke, you know, uh basically uh it's purpose built just for a robotaxi. So they're able to make these cars cheaper. But with regards to FSD, look, it's early stages here. Um FSD adoption the analyst says sees it increasing. It's over just a little more than 10% right now.\n\n03:22  Pras Subramanian\n\nYou know, Musk needs to see that number go up to get more money in his compensation plan. So that's there's going to be some uh motivation there. Uh but also uh if he looks at it as a sum of the parts analysis, 19% of that is just FSD. 50% or so was the robotaxi. So 70% just there thereabouts is robotaxis and full self driving are what this analyst says are the full enterprise value of Tesla.\n\n03:45  Speaker A\n\nDoes does the analyst big picture, does this note sort of dovetail with with how Musk talks about the future of Tesla, which is AI, autonomy, robots?\n\n03:57  Pras Subramanian\n\nYeah, I think so. I mean, again, that sum of the parts analysis, 19% of that is just the automotive business. But guess what? The automotive business makes 19 90% of the profits, right? So uh it's sort of the future. What does Tesla look like two years, three years, four years, five years down the line? Uh it's going to be robotics, it's going to be cyber cabs, it's going to be robotaxis. Uh you know, there's a lot there that's very interesting and and very future forward looking. The question is can Musk deliver, right?\n\n04:24  Pras Subramanian\n\nUh he has shown that he can. They're in. The part on robot taxis I thought was interesting. Um, just walk us through because you wrote about this. How how the sort of the analyst is kind of framing that opportunity for Musk and how he sort of compares and contrasts Tesla and Waymo in that fight.\n\n00:27  Pras Subramanian\n\nSo, you know, nothing new here, right? So the analyst here, um, Alexander Perry talking about how Tesla has an advantage from both a, you know, bill of materials point of view. They they build these cars, their their robotaxes are cheaper because they're camera- based. They don't require all these sensor suites that that a Waymo might require. And he's essentially saying that a Waymo costs \\$150,000 to make, whereas a Tesla can be 40,000 for a Model Y, right?\n\n00:54  Pras Subramanian\n\nSo, huge benefit there. Uh and then also the fact that that's from, you know, autonomous robotaxi, but also just sort of the FSD kind of, but like but from a ride hailing point of view, talking comparing to Uber and Lyft, you know, there's no human driver. And their calculation show that the human driver costs about half, you know, for a \\$20 ride, average ride, about 960 is the driver's, you know, uh compensation. So if Tesla has robotaxis, they're they're at half that, right?\n\n01:21  Pras Subramanian\n\nSo that's sort of the the bet is cheaper to build uh and then also from the ride hailing point of view you have the actual no drivers. that's good for a comparing against ridehailing company. So, this guy says that 52% of the Tesla's enterprise value that he that he that he's calculated is just robotaxis uh alone. So, there you go, right?\n\n01:36  Speaker A\n\nPolymarket all over this. Here's what they got, ready? They say uh Polymarket showing here, let me get this right. 22% expect Tesla to launch robotaxis in California by this summer, by June 30th. What does the likelihood of that look like in your opinion?\n\n01:55  Pras Subramanian\n\nI think that's too low, to be honest with you. I think it is too low because right now they're just they're just basically off operating a ridehailing service in California, right? They have the cars there that are being picked up by the Tesla app and there's a driver in there, right? They have not even applied for the the permits that Waymo has to operate a autonomous ridehailing service. And that takes months. You know, you file, it doesn't mean it happens right away. It takes months\n\n02:22  Pras Subramanian\n\nand you got to prove that your your vehicles are safe. You got to do a number of different things that the California utilities which runs that that program uh has to see. So if you're if they're saying by June 30th, 22% chance, I mean, maybe that's okay. Uh you know, you know, obviously the the the thing with Polymarket is and and Kalshi is that it's all basically people with inside info just basically making making it aware. But um yeah, I just think that it's it's going to be hard by by mid-year.\n\n02:49  Speaker A\n\nWhat about the full self-driving uh as a software business? The analyst dug into that as well?\n\n02:56  Pras Subramanian\n\nYeah, I mean, uh if if you if you talk about like we talk about the Model Y with just the sensor suite, the camera suite. It's easier to make these cars, cheaper to make, more scalable. that that cyber cab that you showed in that in that in that that that Polymarket thing is the cheap bespoke, you know, uh basically uh it's purpose built just for a robotaxi. So they're able to make these cars cheaper. But with regards to FSD, look, it's early stages here. Um FSD adoption the analyst says sees it increasing. It's over just a little more than 10% right now.\n\n03:22  Pras Subramanian\n\nYou know, Musk needs to see that number go up to get more money in his compensation plan. So that's there's going to be some uh motivation there. Uh but also uh if he looks at it as a sum of the parts analysis, 19% of that is just FSD. 50% or so was the robotaxi. So 70% just there thereabouts is robotaxis and full self driving are what this analyst says are the full enterprise value of Tesla.\n\n03:45  Speaker A\n\nDoes does the analyst big picture, does this note sort of dovetail with with how Musk talks about the future of Tesla, which is AI, autonomy, robots?\n\n03:57  Pras Subramanian\n\nYeah, I think so. What does Tesla look like two years, three years, four years, five years down the line? Uh it's going to be robotics, it's going to be cyber cabs, it's going to be robotaxis. Firm laying out a bullish outlook on the company's autonomous efforts and Yahoo Finance's Pras Subramanian joins now with more Pras. 00:10 Speaker A All right, so our Bank of America they reinstate coverage of Tesla with a buy rating, all right? They're in. The part on robot taxis I thought was interesting. Um, just walk us through because you wrote about this. How how the sort of the analyst is kind of framing that opportunity for Musk and how he sort of compares and contrasts Tesla and Waymo in that fight. 00:27 Pras Subramanian So, you know, nothing new here, right? So the analyst here, um, Alexander Perry talking about how Tesla has an advantage from both a, you know, bill of materials point of view. They they build these cars, their their robotaxes are cheaper because they're camera- based. They don't require all these sensor suites that that a Waymo might require. And he's essentially saying that a Waymo costs \$150,000 to make, whereas a Tesla can be 40,000 for a Model Y, right? 00:54 Pras Subramanian So, huge benefit there. Uh and then also the fact that that's from, you know, autonomous robotaxi, but also just sort of the FSD kind of, but like but from a ride hailing point of view, talking comparing to Uber and Lyft, you know, there's no human driver. And their calculation show that the human driver costs about half, you know, for a \$20 ride, average ride, about 960 is the driver's, you know, uh compensation. So if Tesla has robotaxis, they're they're at half that, right? 01:21 Pras Subramanian So that's sort of the the bet is cheaper to build uh and then also from the ride hailing point of view you have the actual no drivers. that's good for a comparing against ridehailing company. So, this guy says that 52% of the Tesla's enterprise value that he that he that he's calculated is just robotaxis uh alone. So, there you go, right? 01:36 Speaker A Polymarket all over this. Here's what they got, ready? They say uh Polymarket showing here, let me get this right. 22% expect Tesla to launch robotaxis in California by this summer, by June 30th. What does the likelihood of that look like in your opinion? 01:55 Pras Subramanian I think that's too low, to be honest with you. I think it is too low because right now they're just they're just basically off operating a ridehailing service in California, right? They have the cars there that are being picked up by the Tesla app and there's a driver in there, right? They have not even applied for the the permits that Waymo has to operate a autonomous ridehailing service. And that takes months. You know, you file, it doesn't mean it happens right away. It takes months 02:22 Pras Subramanian and you got to prove that your your vehicles are safe. You got to do a number of different things that the California utilities which runs that that program uh has to see. So if you're if they're saying by June 30th, 22% chance, I mean, maybe that's okay. Uh you know, you know, obviously the the the thing with Polymarket is and and Kalshi is that it's all basically people with inside info just basically making making it aware. But um yeah, I just think that it's it's going to be hard by by mid-year. 02:49 Speaker A What about the full self-driving uh as a software business? The analyst dug into that as well? 02:56 Pras Subramanian Yeah, I mean, uh if if you if you talk about like we talk about the Model Y with just the sensor suite, the camera suite. It's easier to make these cars, cheaper to make, more scalable. that that cyber cab that you showed in that in that in that that that Polymarket thing is the cheap bespoke, you know, uh basically uh it's purpose built just for a robotaxi. So they're able to make these cars cheaper. But with regards to FSD, look, it's early stages here. Um FSD adoption the analyst says sees it increasing. It's over just a little more than 10% right now. 03:22 Pras Subramanian You know, Musk needs to see that number go up to get more money in his compensation plan. So that's there's going to be some uh motivation there. Uh but also uh if he looks at it as a sum of the parts analysis, 19% of that is just FSD. 50% or so was the robotaxi. So 70% just there thereabouts is robotaxis and full self driving are what this analyst says are the full enterprise value of Tesla. 03:45 Speaker A Does does the analyst big picture, does this note sort of dovetail with with how Musk talks about the future of Tesla, which is AI, autonomy, robots? 03:57 Pras Subramanian Yeah, I think so. I mean, again, that sum of the parts analysis, 19% of that is just the automotive business. But guess what? The automotive business makes 19 90% of the profits, right? So uh it's sort of the future. What does Tesla look like two years, three years, four years, five years down the line? Uh it's going to be robotics, it's going to be cyber cabs, it's going to be robotaxis. Uh you know, there's a lot there that's very interesting and and very future forward looking. The question is can Musk deliver, right? 04:24 Pras Subramanian Uh he has shown that he can. Firm laying out a bullish outlook on the company's autonomous efforts and Yahoo Finance's Pras Subramanian joins now with more Pras. 00:10 Speaker A All right, so our Bank of America they reinstate coverage of Tesla with a buy rating, all right? They're in. The part on robot taxis I thought was interesting. Um, just walk us through because you wrote about this. How how the sort of the analyst is kind of framing that opportunity for Musk and how he sort of compares and contrasts Tesla and Waymo in that fight. 00:27 Pras Subramanian So, you know, nothing new here, right? So the analyst here, um, Alexander Perry talking about how Tesla has an advantage from both a, you know, bill of materials point of view. They they build these cars, their their robotaxes are cheaper because they're camera- based. They don't require all these sensor suites that that a Waymo might require. And he's essentially saying that a Waymo costs \$150,000 to make, whereas a Tesla can be 40,000 for a Model Y, right? 00:54 Pras Subramanian So, huge benefit there. Uh and then also the fact that that's from, you know, autonomous robotaxi, but also just sort of the FSD kind of, but like but from a ride hailing point of view, talking comparing to Uber and Lyft, you know, there's no human driver. And their calculation show that the human driver costs about half, you know, for a \$20 ride, average ride, about 960 is the driver's, you know, uh compensation. So if Tesla has robotaxis, they're they're at half that, right? 01:21 Pras Subramanian So that's sort of the the bet is cheaper to build uh and then also from the ride hailing point of view you have the actual no drivers. that's good for a comparing against ridehailing company. So, this guy says that 52% of the Tesla's enterprise value that he that he that he's calculated is just robotaxis uh alone. So, there you go, right? 01:36 Speaker A Polymarket all over this. Here's what they got, ready? They say uh Polymarket showing here, let me get this right. 22% expect Tesla to launch robotaxis in California by this summer, by June 30th. What does the likelihood of that look like in your opinion? 01:55 Pras Subramanian I think that's too low, to be honest with you. I think it is too low because right now they're just they're just basically off operating a ridehailing service in California, right? They have the cars there that are being picked up by the Tesla app and there's a driver in there, right? They have not even applied for the the permits that Waymo has to operate a autonomous ridehailing service. And that takes months. You know, you file, it doesn't mean it happens right away. It takes months 02:22 Pras Subramanian and you got to prove that your your vehicles are safe. You got to do a number of different things that the California utilities which runs that that program uh has to see. So if you're if they're saying by June 30th, 22% chance, I mean, maybe that's okay. Uh you know, you know, obviously the the the thing with Polymarket is and and Kalshi is that it's all basically people with inside info just basically making making it aware. But um yeah, I just think that it's it's going to be hard by by mid-year. 02:49 Speaker A What about the full self-driving uh as a software business? The analyst dug into that as well? 02:56 Pras Subramanian Yeah, I mean, uh if if you if you talk about like we talk about the Model Y with just the sensor suite, the camera suite. It's easier to make these cars, cheaper to make, more scalable. that that cyber cab that you showed in that in that in that that that Polymarket thing is the cheap bespoke, you know, uh basically uh it's purpose built just for a robotaxi. So they're able to make these cars cheaper. But with regards to FSD, look, it's early stages here. Um FSD adoption the analyst says sees it increasing. It's over just a little more than 10% right now. 03:22 Pras Subramanian You know, Musk needs to see that number go up to get more money in his compensation plan. So that's there's going to be some uh motivation there. Uh but also uh if he looks at it as a sum of the parts analysis, 19% of that is just FSD. 50% or so was the robotaxi. So 70% just there thereabouts is robotaxis and full self driving are what this analyst says are the full enterprise value of Tesla. 03:45 Speaker A Does does the analyst big picture, does this note sort of dovetail with with how Musk talks about the future of Tesla, which is AI, autonomy, robots? 03:57 Pras Subramanian Yeah, I think so. I mean, again, that sum of the parts analysis, 19% of that is just the automotive business. But guess what? The automotive business makes 19 90% of the profits, right? So uh it's sort of the future. What does Tesla look like two years, three years, four years, five years down the line? Uh it's going to be robotics, it's going to be cyber cabs, it's going to be robotaxis. Uh you know, there's a lot there that's very interesting and and very future forward looking. The question is can Musk deliver, right? 04:24 Pras Subramanian Uh he has shown that he can. It just takes him sometimes longer than what he has said before.
