What are the best places to stay in Paris? Well, that depends on what you’re looking for in your Paris trip. Thanks to Paris’ extensive and affordable metro system, some people say there’s no wrong area to stay in Paris, as you’re always just a quick subway ride away from what you want to see.  Personally, though, I think some places in Paris win out, especially if you have a specific goal for your trip, like seeing as many sights as possible, traveling on a budget, or experiencing a once-in-a-lifetime romantic getaway. Below, I’m highlighting seven of my favorite areas to stay in Paris.  Dotted across the city, they all offer something unique, something special and something typically Parisienne .  I’ve been to Paris five times and have another trip planned for Summer 2026, so I have a lot of experience staying in different parts of the city.  I’ve also put the spotlight on some of the most attractive hotels and hostels in each area – they are all well-loved by travelers, highly-rated, and reasonably priced for the level of service offered (no tourist trips or rip-off here!). 1. The Best Place to Stay in Paris for First-Time Visitors – The 1st Arrondissement The 1st Arrondissement in Paris is the area between Place Vendome and Les Halles, including the Louvre Museum and the Jardin des Tuileries.  You’ll never be more than a few steps away from the world’s most famous works of art here, as the MusĂ©e d’Orsay and the Orangerie are also just a few blocks away. ⭐ Click here to see my favorite Paris excursions, tours and unique experiences! ⭐ As this area is adjacent to the Seine, it’s also ideal for travelers who want to include a river cruise or riverfront promenade on their trip.  Grab a baguette, some fromage and a bottle of wine and have a sunset pique-nique before you return to your hotel room in the evening. Hotels Near The Louvre in Paris Hotel Moliere is the perfect hotel option for first-time visitors to Paris. Located only four minutes by foot from The Louvre Museum and several metro stations, you’ll never be far from the main attractions at this four-star hotel in a renovated 19th-century building. The Parisien -style continental breakfast gets rave reviews, as do the recommendations for local restaurants and attractions provided by the helpful front desk staff. Seriously, though, this hotels offer the perfect combination of reasonable prices and unbeatable location for first-time Paris travelers. Normandy Le Chantier is another hotel located near Hotel Moliere.  As of early 2022 the hotel was wrapping up a long modernization and renovation process, and at press time was still offering discounted rates to make up for the minor inconveniences associated with the upgrades. Even when the renovations are done and rooms are back to full price, this will still be a great hotel option near The Louvre. The hotel is home to a cool cocktail bar, and hosts a number of events and pop-up spaces to keep things fresh. Hotel Crayon isn’t the top-rated hotel in this area, but it’s a great option for budget-conscious travelers looking for a fun hotel in Paris. Each of the 26 rooms in this artist-owned hotel are decorated in a unique color from the “crayon box”, and are furnished with funky findings from Paris’ flea markets and design shops. If you’re Instagramming your trip to Paris, you’ll love your room here. Le Roch Hotel & Spa would be the perfect 1st Arrondissement hotel for any first-time visitors who travel at a more relaxed pace and want a more upscale experience. An easy five-minute walk from the Jardin des Tuileries and its eponymous metro station, this five-star spa hotel has an underground swimming pool made from black lava rock, a restaurant serving seasonal French cuisine and a beautiful terrace cocktail bar. For a real treat, book their suite with a private hammam. 2. The Best Area to Stay in Paris for Budget Travelers – Montmartre Located north of the city center, Montmartre used to be its own distinct farming village but is now just a fifteen-minute metro ride from the 1st Arrondissement. Since the release of famous Paris-set movies like Amelie and Midnight in Paris, Montmartre has become not only a popular place to spend a day but also a popular accommodation option for budget-minded travelers.  That fifteen-minute metro ride could save you € 50 or even € 100 a night when you compare the properties here to similar hotels closer to the Seine. Hostels in Montmartre Le Village Montmartre is known as one of Paris’ best party hostels.  Two blocks from the Anvers metro station, it’s at the base of the hill (near the funicular).  The pretty outdoor terrace is a great place to meet other solo travelers. Caulaincourt Square Hotel is a boutique hostel with a mix of private and dorm-style rooms. I booked a private room with private bathroom at Caulaincourt Square Hotel and loved being surrounded by all the cute shops and restaurants in Montmartre.  Make sure to use the Rue Caulaincourt exit at the adjacent metro station, as one wrong turn (out the Rue Lamarck exit) adds a totally-unnecessary 122-step climb to reach the hotel! Hotels in Montmartre Hotel des Arts Montmartre is just a block away from Rue des Abbesses, one of the most charming streets in Montmartre. It’s known for chic rooms, helpful staff and very reasonable prices. Maison Souquet is the only five-star hotel in Montmartre. Located in a former “pleasure house” (yes, I mean brothel), Maison Souquet has twenty elaborate rooms with luscious, opulent decor.  You’ll also find a pool, hammam and cocktail bar on-site.  (Seriously, though, you have to click through to see how cool it is!) HĂŽtel Monsieur Aristide has twenty-five playful, design-focused rooms surrounding a secret garden. The boutique hotel’s Mediterranean cafe gets rave reviews, and I love that it’s a short walk from both the Abbesses and Blanche metro stations. 3. The Best Place to Stay in Paris for Foodies – Le Marais If you’ve come to Paris to sample its world-famous cuisine, you’ll want to make Marais your home base.  “Le marais” means “the swamp”, but you’d never know that this low-lying neighborhood used to be anything other than a pretty medieval and Renaissance quarter. Here, you’re close to contemporary art hotspots like the Pompidou Center and the Picasso Museum, but the real highlight is the seemingly endless selection of restaurants, at every price point, right at your doorstep. Hotels in Le Marais Le Marais doesn’t have any hostel that I would recommend.  However, it has a great selection of mid-priced hotels that are comfortable for couples and often have single or family rooms as well. Hotel Caron is situated near Place des Vosges (shown above) and the Saint-Paul metro station. Rooms here are spacious by Paris standards and come equipped with luxurious toiletries from the French brand L’Occitane. Behind the hotel, Place Sainte-Catherine has several cafes with outdoor tables, perfect for people-watching. Les Tournelles has comfortable single rooms available for solo travelers, but if you reserve in advance and pre-pay for your stay it can be cheaper to stay in one of their comfortable double rooms.  There’s a nice lounge area with newspapers, magazines and an honesty bar, so you can rest and recharge before you head out for dinner after a day of sightseeing. Le Temple De Jeanne is a boutique hotel where the rooms are centered around big, sunny rooms that let the natural light shine in.  If you’re a Booking.com Genius member (like me!) you’ll likely be eligible for a complimentary continental breakfast featuring regional specialties like cheeses from L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and seasonal jams from Vaucluse – just make sure to book one of the Genius rates with breakfast included. The Best Area to Stay in Paris to Explore by Foot – The 7th Arrondissement The 7th Arrondissement is located on the South Bank, or Rive Gauche , and is home to Paris’ most iconic attraction: The Eiffel Tower . Nearby, other attractions include the Rodin Museum and Napoleon’s tomb at Les Invalides.  This is one of the best places to stay in Paris if you want to see the city from the sidewalks, as nearly everything is within walking distance. I recommend you look for accommodation around Rue Cler. One of the most typically Parisienne streets in the city, Rue Cler is lined with cafes and gourmet food shops that seem more like they’re from a beautiful French village than the nation’s metropolitan capital. Hotels in the 7th Arrondissement Le Pavillon Hotel would be my top choice in this arrondissement. Here, there is a selection of single, double and triple rooms at competitive prices considering this little property’s central location near the Esplanade des Invalides and the Invalides metro station. A member of the Green Spirit Hotels Group, the five rooms here have a sustainable focus, including a  bio breakfast service, linens made from organic fibers and a courtyard with lush greenery. Hotel Eiffel Seine has an unbeatable location on the riverfront of the Seine, right beside a metro and RER train station.  From the hotel’s front doors it’s less than five minutes by foot to the Eiffel Tower, making it perfect for a short stay focused on Paris’ most famous sights. If you’re traveling with a family, some rooms here can accommodate up to five guests. Grand Hotel Leveque recently reopened its doors after a nine-month renovation. Situated directly on Rue Cler itself, this modernized three-star hotel has air-conditioned, soundproofed rooms, including several with Eiffel Tower views from their balcony.  Breakfast is served from 7:00 to 11:00, and afterwards you can access the honor bar for drinks later in the day. Hostels Near the 7th Arrondissement There aren’t any good hostels in the 7th Arrondissement, but you just have to travel a few metro stops south to find The 3 Ducks Eiffel Tower , one of the best hostels in Paris.  With a good mix of private and dorm rooms, 3 Ducks’ social bar area is a great place to meet other budget travelers. A typical French breakfast of pastries, bread, cereal, juice and coffee is served each morning. 5. The Best Place to Stay in Paris for Tranquility – Around Luxembourg Gardens The area around the Luxembourg Gardens is ideal for travelers who want to experience the excitement and energy of Paris during the day, but retreat to a more peaceful and tranquil home base afterwards. You’re not too far from the bustling Latin Quarter (where you’ll find the Pantheon and the Sorbonne), but by basing yourself just a few blocks to the west you’ll have a much better sleep, I promise! Hotels Around Luxembourg Gardens Le Perle is just a block away from the beautiful Church of Saint Sulpice and two blocks from the Mabillon metro station. I love the retro-inspired furniture (especially in the glass-walled breakfast room) and the super-comfy beds and pillows. Hotel Recamier is just two blocks from the gardens and the MusĂ©e du Luxembourg (featuring temporary exhibits celebrating modern art and female artists). This is what you imagine when you first start planning your trip to Paris: a gorgeous historic building with plants tumbling down the front facade, quiet rooms that overlook an inner courtyard or a calm church square, and a complimentary afternoon high tea service for guests. 6. The Best Area to Stay in Paris on Your Honeymoon – Champs-ÉlysĂ©es The City of Lights is also The City of Love, and the best place to stay on a romantic trip to Paris is around the Champs-ÉlysĂ©es.  One of the most famous grand boulevards in the world, the Champs-ÉlysĂ©es is lined with high-end boutiques, upscale cafes and the spectacular facades that Paris is known for.  If you’re taking a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Paris, the occasion calls for a once-in-a-lifetime hotel, like one of these popular Paris luxury hotels. Hotels Near the Champs-ÉlysĂ©es in Paris CitizenM Paris Champs-ÉlysĂ©es is one of the most affordable options near the Champs-ÉlysĂ©es. I love CitizenM hotels because they’re always fun, funky and fresh, incorporating cutting-edge technology and modern design. Personally, this is just the right amount of luxury for me (I don’t need a personal butler!). Rooms here have mood lighting, pod-style bathrooms and super-speed WiFi, and the rooftop terrace bar is one of the coolest in the city. Hotel Lancaster Paris would be ideal for travelers wanting a luxury hotel stay without a four-digit nightly price tag. This hotel is located in a former townhouse dating back to the 1800s, and rooms are decorated with both antique furnishing and contemporary art. The informal terrace restaurant serves local and international dishes, while the elegant Monsieur restaurant showcases a different region’s cuisine with a new seasonal menu each month. Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris is famous around the world for its unparalleled luxury.  Frequently voted The Best Hotel in the World (!), this spectacular hotel has three separate Michelin-starred restaurants (including one, Le Cinq, with three stars), an Art Nouveau spa and swimming pool, and a wide selection of upscale rooms and suites. A stay here is a splurge that will make unforgettable memories. 7. The Best Place to Stay in Paris for Nightlife – Oberkampf If you’re a young (or young at heart!) traveler looking to stay in the heart of Paris’ nightlife scene, choose a hotel or hostel near Rue Oberkampf in the 11th Arrondissement. This street, and its surroundings, are jam-packed with trendy bars and nightclubs that are known for friendly clientele and reasonable prices.  The hotels below are all within easy walking distance of most of the action, so you don’t need to pay for an expensive taxi or Uber after a big night out. Hostels Near Rue Oberkampf The People – Paris Belleville is a popular hostel ten-minute walk from Rue Oberkampf, near the Belleville metro station. This is the perfect place to meet other travelers, as the hostel has a bar, games room and chill-out areas. Room options include dorms, private rooms and family rooms.  If you’re traveling with someone else, check out the private room on the rooftop with panoramic city views.  This hostel used to be named Les Piaules, so you may see old reviews or recommendations using that name. Hotels Near Rue Oberkampf My Home in Paris is one of the most contemporary hotels in the Rue Oberkampf area. It really does feel like home here, with recently renovated rooms, an atrium conservatory bar and comfortable guest rooms. There’s a metro station one block away, with direct access to the Gare du Nord station. HĂŽtel Les Deux Girafes is a tres chic hotel just one block off Rue Oberkampf.  Featuring stunning contemporary design (yes, that is a wood-paneled treadmill in the fitness center!) this hotel welcomes coworkers in the comfortable lobby, and services guests their choice of a continental breakfast or a full buffet. The hotel hosts temporary art exhibits from local artists, so leave a few minutes in your schedule to see what’s on display during your visit. Hotel Cosmos is a solid no-frills option for travelers who will be spending most of their time in Paris around the city, and just need a basic, centrally-located hotel to sleep at night. They have one of the better continental breakfasts in the area, with little extras like yogurt and muesli to keep you fueled through a full morning of sightseeing. With three metro stations nearby, you can easily explore all of Paris using Hotel Cosmos as your home base. 8. Other Places to Stay in Paris, France There are lots of great areas to stay in Paris besides the seven I listed above.  There are a few other Paris hotel options that you might want to consider, especially if you’re on a backpacker budget or looking for something a little more
unusual. Hostels Near the Gare du Nord Some travel bloggers will lump these Paris hostels in with the properties around Rue Oberkampf, but I think the distance between them warrants their own category.  These are some of the best affordable hostels in Paris, and even though they’re not in the best areas to stay in Paris, they’re close to great transportation connections that will whisk you around the city in no time. St. Christopher’s Inn Gare du Nord consistently finds itself on top of the list of the best hostels in Paris. You don’t have to lug your luggage around to reach this property, as it’s right across the street from the Gare du Nord train station where the Eurostar, and trains from Charles de Gaulle airport, arrive. Like all the properties in this hostel chain there is an on-site sports bar, but personally I’m more interested in the free walking tours they offer to help orientate new travelers to the city. Generator Paris is part of the Generator family of hostels. I’ve visited their two locations in Berlin, and love how the brand always goes above and beyond to make backpacking and budget travel more comfortable. You’re going to meet your new BFF here, whether it’s at the underground nightclub, on-site cafe or rooftop bar with sunset views of Montmartre. Dorms range in size from four to ten beds, and there are lots of private rooms for friends, families and couples. St. Christopher’s Inn Canal St. Martin is another great hostel in the St. Christopher’s family. The on-site bar here is right on the canal, with beautiful outdoor seats in the sports bar that overlook the water.  Dorms here are a bit bigger (some sleep up to twelve people) but they do have privacy curtains on each bed and lockers to keep your stuff secure. As a solo female traveler in Paris, I would opt for one of their female-only dorms. Hotels Near Charles de Gaulle Airport Roissy Chambres is the type of airport hotel that I prefer: a homey, family-run guesthouse with an airport shuttle.  For budget travelers, it’s only a three-minute walk from a bus stop that takes you directly to the airport. If you’ve got a car, there is free parking onsite. Novotel Paris Charles de Gaulle is the best-rated hotel right at CDG Airport. It’s located at Terminal 3, and the airport’s free metro system can take you to the other terminals. If you’ve got an early flight you’ll be glad that breakfast service starts at 5:00 am, and if you’re traveling with kids you’ll like the hotel’s play area. A Few Unusual Paris Accommodation Options Splendor ‘s tagline ( Magical City, Magical Hotel ) , gives away its secret: Splendor is Paris’ only magic-themed hotel. Evoking the atmosphere of a magic show in the Roaring Twenties, Splendor has 24 themed rooms with themes like illumination, card tricks and levitation. No matter which room you choose, you’ll be blown away by the immersive decor. Vice Versa isn’t the kind of hotel that you book for a family trip. With a 7 Deadly Sins theme, this hotel is more naughty than nice. Personally, I’d love to stay in the Gluttony room with a macaron-shaped bed, but after a retreat to the hotel’s hammam I might be tempted to try to sneak into the Sloth room too. Room allocation is usually random, so don’t risk staying here on business and ending up in the Lust room with a coworker. Hotel Odyssey by Elegancia will make you wonder if your plane landed in Tokyo instead of Paris. The vision of famous French designer Ora-Ïto, this place has major Zen vibes. The rooms are inspired by Japanese capsule hotels, and feature smooth lines, minimalist designs and harmonious balance. At Hotel Chopin Paris you can stay inside one of the city’s famous covered shopping arcades. There are only three hotels inside these secret passages, and I think Hotel Chopin is the most evocative.  Once you’ve got your hotel booked, you’ll want to read these Paris travel guides before your trip! [**Hotel Caron**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/caron.html?aid=1461726) is situated near Place des Vosges (shown above) and the Saint-Paul metro station. Rooms here are spacious by Paris standards and come equipped with luxurious toiletries from the French brand L’Occitane. Behind the hotel, Place Sainte-Catherine has several cafes with outdoor tables, perfect for people-watching. [**Les Tournelles**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/les-tournelles-paris.html?aid=1461726) has comfortable single rooms available for solo travelers, but if you reserve in advance and pre-pay for your stay it can be cheaper to stay in one of their comfortable double rooms. There’s a nice lounge area with newspapers, magazines and an honesty bar, so you can rest and recharge before you head out for dinner after a day of sightseeing. [**Le Temple De Jeanne**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/pointe-rivoli.html?aid=1461726) is a boutique hotel where the rooms are centered around big, sunny rooms that let the natural light shine in. The Best Area to Stay in Paris to Explore by Foot – The 7th Arrondissement ![View of the Eiffel Tower from a Street in Paris France](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/view-of-eiffel-tower-from-paris-street-768x1024.jpg) The 7th Arrondissement is located on the South Bank, or *Rive Gauche*, and is home to Paris’ most iconic attraction: [**The Eiffel Tower**](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/best-time-to-visit-the-eiffel-tower/). Nearby, other attractions include the Rodin Museum and Napoleon’s tomb at Les Invalides. This is one of the best places to stay in Paris if you want to see the city from the sidewalks, as nearly everything is within walking distance. I recommend you look for accommodation around Rue Cler. One of the most typically *Parisienne* streets in the city, Rue Cler is lined with cafes and gourmet food shops that seem more like they’re from a [**beautiful French village**](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/beautiful-french-villages/) than the nation’s metropolitan capital. ### Hotels in the 7th Arrondissement [**Le Pavillon Hotel**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/le-pavillon.html?aid=1461726) would be my top choice in this arrondissement. Here, there is a selection of single, double and triple rooms at competitive prices considering this little property’s central location near the Esplanade des Invalides and the Invalides metro station. A member of the Green Spirit Hotels Group, the five rooms here have a sustainable focus, including a *bio* breakfast service, linens made from organic fibers and a courtyard with lush greenery. [**Hotel Eiffel Seine**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/relaiseiffelgrenelle.html?aid=1461726) has an unbeatable location on the riverfront of the Seine, right beside a metro and RER train station. From the hotel’s front doors it’s less than five minutes by foot to the Eiffel Tower, making it perfect for a short stay focused on Paris’ most famous sights. If you’re traveling with a family, some rooms here can accommodate up to *five* guests. [**Grand Hotel Leveque**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/grand-ha-tel-la-c-vaaque.html?aid=1461726) recently reopened its doors after a nine-month renovation. ### Hostels Near the 7th Arrondissement There aren’t any good hostels *in* the 7th Arrondissement, but you just have to travel a few metro stops south to find [**The 3 Ducks Eiffel Tower**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/3-ducks-boutique-hostel.html?aid=1461726), one of the best hostels in Paris. With a good mix of private and dorm rooms, 3 Ducks’ social bar area is a great place to meet other budget travelers. A typical French breakfast of pastries, bread, cereal, juice and coffee is served each morning. ## ![](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/small-div.jpg) ## 5\. The Best Place to Stay in Paris for Tranquility – Around Luxembourg Gardens ![Hotels in Paris Near the Luxembourg Gardens](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/where-to-stay-in-paris-luxembourg-gardens-1024x576.jpg) The area around the Luxembourg Gardens is ideal for travelers who want to experience the excitement and energy of Paris during the day, but retreat to a more peaceful and tranquil home base afterwards. You’re not too far from the bustling Latin Quarter (where you’ll find the Pantheon and the Sorbonne), but by basing yourself just a few blocks to the west you’ll have a much better sleep, I promise\! ### Hotels Around Luxembourg Gardens [**Le Perle**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/la-perle.html?aid=1461726) is just a block away from the beautiful Church of Saint Sulpice and two blocks from the Mabillon metro station. I love the retro-inspired furniture (especially in the glass-walled breakfast room) and the super-comfy beds and pillows. [**Hotel Recamier**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/recamier.html?aid=1461726) is just two blocks from the gardens and the MusĂ©e du Luxembourg (featuring temporary exhibits celebrating modern art and female artists). This is what you imagine when you first start planning your trip to Paris: a gorgeous historic building with plants tumbling down the front facade, quiet rooms that overlook an inner courtyard or a calm church square, and a complimentary afternoon high tea service for guests. ## ![](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/small-div.jpg) ## 6\. The Best Area to Stay in Paris on Your Honeymoon – Champs-ÉlysĂ©es ![The Champs-Elysees Leading to the Arc de Triomph in Paris, France](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/paris-champs-elysees-france-1024x631.jpg) The City of Lights is also The City of Love, and the best place to stay on a romantic trip to Paris is around the Champs-ÉlysĂ©es. ### Hotels Near the Champs-ÉlysĂ©es in Paris [**CitizenM Paris Champs-ÉlysĂ©es**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/citizenm-paris-champs-elysees.html?aid=1461726) is one of the most affordable options near the Champs-ÉlysĂ©es. [**Hotel Lancaster Paris**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/lancaster-paris-champs-elysees.html?aid=1461726) would be ideal for travelers wanting a luxury hotel stay without a four-digit nightly price tag. This hotel is located in a former townhouse dating back to the 1800s, and rooms are decorated with both antique furnishing and contemporary art. The informal terrace restaurant serves local and international dishes, while the elegant *Monsieur* restaurant showcases a different region’s cuisine with a new seasonal menu each month. [**Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/four-seasons-george-v-paris.html?aid=1461726) is famous around the world for its unparalleled luxury. Frequently voted The Best Hotel in the World (!), this spectacular hotel has *three* separate Michelin-starred restaurants (including one, Le Cinq, with three stars), an Art Nouveau spa and swimming pool, and a wide selection of upscale rooms and suites. A stay here is a splurge that will make unforgettable memories. ## ![](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/small-div.jpg) ## 7\. The Best Place to Stay in Paris for Nightlife – Oberkampf ![The best hotels in paris near rue oberkampf for nightlife](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/paris-hotels-rue-oberkampf-683x1024.jpg) If you’re a young (or young at heart!) traveler looking to stay in the heart of Paris’ nightlife scene, choose a hotel or hostel near Rue Oberkampf in the 11th Arrondissement. This street, and its surroundings, are jam-packed with trendy bars and nightclubs that are known for friendly clientele and reasonable prices. The hotels below are all within easy walking distance of most of the action, so you don’t need to pay for an expensive taxi or Uber after a big night out. ### Hostels Near Rue Oberkampf [**The People – Paris Belleville**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/les-piaules.html?aid=1461726) is a popular hostel ten-minute walk from Rue Oberkampf, near the Belleville metro station. ### Hotels Near Rue Oberkampf [**My Home in Paris**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/my-home-in-paris.html?aid=1461726) is one of the most contemporary hotels in the Rue Oberkampf area. It really does feel like home here, with recently renovated rooms, an atrium conservatory bar and comfortable guest rooms. There’s a metro station one block away, with direct access to the Gare du Nord station. [**HĂŽtel Les Deux Girafes**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/les-2-girafes.html?aid=1461726) is a *tres chic* hotel just one block off Rue Oberkampf. [**Hotel Cosmos**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/cosmos-paris.html?aid=1461726) is a solid no-frills option for travelers who will be spending most of their time in Paris around the city, and just need a basic, centrally-located hotel to sleep at night. They have one of the better continental breakfasts in the area, with little extras like yogurt and muesli to keep you fueled through a full morning of sightseeing. With three metro stations nearby, you can easily explore all of Paris using Hotel Cosmos as your home base. ## ![](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/small-div.jpg) ## 8\. Other Places to Stay in Paris, France ![More great hotels in different areas of Paris, France for travel](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/paris-hotel-room-guide-735x1024.jpg) There are lots of great areas to stay in Paris besides the seven I listed above. There are a few other Paris hotel options that you might want to consider, especially if you’re on a backpacker budget or looking for something a little more
unusual. ### Hostels Near the Gare du Nord Some travel bloggers will lump these Paris hostels in with the properties around Rue Oberkampf, but I think the distance between them warrants their own category. These are some of the best affordable hostels in Paris, and even though they’re not in the best areas to stay in Paris, they’re close to great transportation connections that will whisk you around the city in no time. [**St. Christopher’s Inn Gare du Nord**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/st-christopher-s-inn-paris-gare-du-nord.html?aid=1461726) consistently finds itself on top of the list of the best hostels in Paris. [**Generator Paris**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/generator-paris.html?aid=1461726) is part of the Generator family of hostels. [**St. Christopher’s Inn Canal St. Martin**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/st-christopher-s-inn-paris.html?aid=1461726) is another great hostel in the St. Christopher’s family. The on-site bar here is *right* on the canal, with beautiful outdoor seats in the sports bar that overlook the water. Dorms here are a bit bigger (some sleep up to twelve people) but they do have privacy curtains on each bed and lockers to keep your stuff secure. As a solo female traveler in Paris, I would opt for one of their female-only dorms. ### Hotels Near Charles de Gaulle Airport [**Roissy Chambres**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/roissy-chambres.html?aid=1461726) is the type of airport hotel that I prefer: a homey, family-run guesthouse with an airport shuttle. For budget travelers, it’s only a three-minute walk from a bus stop that takes you directly to the airport. If you’ve got a car, there is free parking onsite. [**Novotel Paris Charles de Gaulle**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/novotel-paris-charles-de-gaulle-terminal.html?aid=1461726) is the best-rated hotel right at CDG Airport. It’s located at Terminal 3, and the airport’s free metro system can take you to the other terminals. If you’ve got an early flight you’ll be glad that breakfast service starts at 5:00 am, and if you’re traveling with kids you’ll like the hotel’s play area. ### A Few Unusual Paris Accommodation Options ![Hotel Chopin Paris France Passage Jouffroy](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/hotel-chopin-paris-grands-boulevards-passage-jouffroy-768x1024.jpg) [**Splendor**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/splendor.html?aid=1461726)‘s tagline (*Magical City, Magical Hotel**)*, gives away its secret: Splendor is Paris’ only magic-themed hotel. Evoking the atmosphere of a magic show in the Roaring Twenties, Splendor has 24 themed rooms with themes like illumination, card tricks and levitation. No matter which room you choose, you’ll be blown away by the immersive decor. [**Vice Versa**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/vice-versa.html?aid=1461726) isn’t the kind of hotel that you book for a family trip. With a 7 Deadly Sins theme, this hotel is more naughty than nice. Personally, I’d love to stay in the Gluttony room with a macaron-shaped bed, but after a retreat to the hotel’s [**hammam**](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/what-happens-in-a-turkish-bath/) I might be tempted to try to sneak into the Sloth room too. Room allocation is usually random, so don’t risk staying here on business and ending up in the Lust room with a coworker. [**Hotel Odyssey by Elegancia**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/des-victoires.html?aid=1461726) will make you wonder if your plane landed in Tokyo instead of Paris. The vision of famous French designer Ora-Ïto, this place has major Zen vibes. The rooms are inspired by Japanese capsule hotels, and feature smooth lines, minimalist designs and harmonious balance. At [**Hotel Chopin Paris**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/chopin-paris.html?aid=1461726) you can stay inside one of the city’s famous covered shopping arcades. There are only three hotels inside these secret passages, and I think Hotel Chopin is the most evocative. ## ![](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/small-div.jpg) **Once you’ve got your hotel booked, you’ll want to read these Paris travel guides before your trip\!** [**The Best Things to Do in Paris at Night**](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/paris-at-night/) [**A Comparison of the Top Wine and Cheese Tastings in Paris**](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wine-and-cheese-tasting-in-paris/) [**How to Make a Custom Perfume in Paris**](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/paris-custom-perfume-workshop-molinard/) [**What Is a Realistic Budget for a Solo Trip to Paris?**](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/budget-for-solo-travelers-paris/) [**How to Learn French Before Your Trip**](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/learn-french-for-travel/) ## ![](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/small-div.jpg) ### Planning a trip to Paris? ![The Best Areas to Stay in Paris From the Eiffel Tower to Montmartre to Marais and More\!](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/paris-hotel-guide-1024x677.jpg) What are the best places to stay in Paris? Well, that depends on what you’re looking for in your Paris trip. Thanks to Paris’ extensive and affordable metro system, some people say there’s no wrong area to stay in Paris, as you’re always just a quick subway ride away from what you want to see. Personally, though, I think some places in Paris win out, especially if you have a specific goal for your trip, like seeing as many sights as possible, traveling on a budget, or experiencing a once-in-a-lifetime romantic getaway. Below, I’m highlighting seven of my favorite areas to stay in Paris. Dotted across the city, they all offer something unique, something special and something typically *Parisienne*. ## ![](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/small-div.jpg) ## 1\. The Best Place to Stay in Paris for First-Time Visitors – The 1st Arrondissement ![The Louvre Pyramid as Seen From Inside the Museum](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/louvre-pyramid-viewed-from-inside-museum-872x1024.jpg) The 1st Arrondissement in Paris is the area between Place Vendome and Les Halles, including the Louvre Museum and the Jardin des Tuileries. You’ll never be more than a few steps away from the world’s most famous works of art here, as the MusĂ©e d’Orsay and the Orangerie are also just a few blocks away. ⭐ **[Click here](https://www.viator.com/partner-shop/fearless-female-travels-loves/Carly-s-Paris-Favorites?medium=link&medium_version=shop&campaign=where-to-stay-in-paris) to see my favorite Paris excursions, tours and unique experiences\!** ⭐ As this area is adjacent to the Seine, it’s also ideal for travelers who want to include a river cruise or riverfront promenade on their trip. Grab a baguette, some *fromage* and a bottle of wine and have a sunset *pique-nique* before you return to your hotel room in the evening. ### Hotels Near The Louvre in Paris [**Hotel Moliere**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/molere.html?aid=1461726) is the perfect hotel option for first-time visitors to Paris. Located only four minutes by foot from The Louvre Museum *and* several metro stations, you’ll never be far from the main attractions at this four-star hotel in a renovated 19th-century building. The *Parisien*\-style continental breakfast gets rave reviews, as do the recommendations for local restaurants and attractions provided by the helpful front desk staff. Seriously, though, this hotels offer *the* perfect combination of reasonable prices and unbeatable location for first-time Paris travelers. [**Normandy Le Chantier**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/normandyhotel.html?aid=1461726) is another hotel located near Hotel Moliere. [**Hotel Crayon**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/louvre-forum.html?aid=1461726) isn’t the top-rated hotel in this area, but it’s a great option for budget-conscious travelers looking for a fun hotel in Paris. Each of the 26 rooms in this artist-owned hotel are decorated in a unique color from the “crayon box”, and are furnished with funky findings from Paris’ flea markets and design shops. If you’re Instagramming your trip to Paris, you’ll love your room here. [**Le Roch Hotel & Spa**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/le-roch-amp-spa.html?aid=1461726) would be the perfect 1st Arrondissement hotel for any first-time visitors who travel at a more relaxed pace and want a more upscale experience. ## ![](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/small-div.jpg) ## 2\. The Best Area to Stay in Paris for Budget Travelers – Montmartre ![Artists in Place du Tertre in Montmartre in Paris](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/place-du-tertre-montmartre-1024x768.jpg) Located north of the city center, Montmartre used to be its own distinct farming village but is now just a fifteen-minute metro ride from the 1st Arrondissement. Since the release of famous Paris-set movies like Amelie and Midnight in Paris, Montmartre has become not only a popular place to spend a day but also a popular accommodation option for budget-minded travelers. That fifteen-minute metro ride could save you €50 or even €100 a night when you compare the properties here to similar hotels closer to the Seine. ### Hostels in Montmartre [**Le Village Montmartre**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/le-village-boutique-hostel.en-gb.html?aid=1461726) is known as one of Paris’ best party hostels. Two blocks from the Anvers metro station, it’s at the base of the hill (near the funicular). The pretty outdoor terrace is a great place to meet other solo travelers. [**Caulaincourt Square Hotel**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/caulaincourt-square.en-us.html?aid=1461726) is a boutique hostel with a mix of private and dorm-style rooms. I booked a private room with private bathroom at Caulaincourt Square Hotel and loved being surrounded by all the cute shops and restaurants in Montmartre. Make sure to use the Rue Caulaincourt exit at the adjacent metro station, as one wrong turn (out the Rue Lamarck exit) adds a totally-unnecessary 122-step climb to reach the hotel\! ### Hotels in Montmartre [**Hotel des Arts Montmartre**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/hoteldesarts.en-gb.html?aid=1461726) is just a block away from Rue des Abbesses, one of the most charming streets in Montmartre. It’s known for chic rooms, helpful staff and very reasonable prices. [**Maison Souquet**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/maison-souquet.en-gb.html?aid=1461726) is the only five-star hotel in Montmartre. Located in a former “pleasure house” (yes, I mean brothel), Maison Souquet has twenty elaborate rooms with luscious, opulent decor. You’ll also find a pool, hammam and cocktail bar on-site. (Seriously, though, you have to click through to see how cool it is!) [**HĂŽtel Monsieur Aristide**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/monsieur-aristide-paris1.en-gb.html?aid=1461726) has twenty-five playful, design-focused rooms surrounding a secret garden. The boutique hotel’s Mediterranean cafe gets rave reviews, and I love that it’s a short walk from both the Abbesses and Blanche metro stations. ## ![](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/small-div.jpg) ## 3\. The Best Place to Stay in Paris for Foodies – Le Marais ![Hotels in Marais Paris](https://fearlessfemaletravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/best-areas-to-stay-in-paris-marais-1024x682.jpg) If you’ve come to Paris to sample its world-famous cuisine, you’ll want to make Marais your home base. *“Le marais”* means “the swamp”, but you’d never know that this low-lying neighborhood used to be anything other than a pretty medieval and Renaissance quarter. Here, you’re close to contemporary art hotspots like the Pompidou Center and the Picasso Museum, but the real highlight is the seemingly endless selection of restaurants, at every price point, right at your doorstep. ### Hotels in Le Marais Le Marais doesn’t have any hostel that I would recommend. However, it has a great selection of mid-priced hotels that are comfortable for couples and often have single or family rooms as well. ### Hotels Near the Champs-ÉlysĂ©es in Paris [**CitizenM Paris Champs-ÉlysĂ©es**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/citizenm-paris-champs-elysees.html?aid=1461726) is one of the most affordable options near the Champs-ÉlysĂ©es.
[**Generator Paris**](https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/generator-paris.html?aid=1461726) is part of the Generator family of hostels.
