(Qomolangma in Tibetan) is the world's tallest mountain at 8,848.86 m (29,032 ft). It straddles the border of
China
/
Tibet
and
Nepal
and can be visited from either side:
Everest Base Camp Trek
through
Khumbu
(Sagarmatha National Park), the more commonly visited region on the Nepalese (southern) side of the mountain
Qomolangma
, the less visited nature reserve on the Tibetan (northern) side

WARNING:
Attempting to climb Mount Everest is
extremely dangerous
. It has the highest altitude on Earth so conditions are harsh. Much of the terrain is difficult, the weather is extremely cold, there are often high winds,
altitude sickness
is a serious threat, and the stress can cause a heart attack.
Wikipedia lists 346 people who have died attempting the climb, as of mid-2025. There are over 200 corpses on the mountain and some like "green boots" have become landmarks for other climbers.
Only experienced climbers with excellent health, good guides and good equipment should even consider this. Even they need careful planning and may be forced to turn back short of the summit under some conditions.
