In June 2003, she announced that she had secured a sponsorship agreement with [Cantor Index](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cantor_Index "Cantor Index"), a [spread-betting](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spread_betting "Spread betting") company, to support the costs of her competitive career.[\[9\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zara_Tindall#cite_note-Gloucestershire-9) Later that year, she finished as runner-up at the [Burghley Horse Trials](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burghley_Horse_Trials "Burghley Horse Trials") in her first four-star event.[\[10\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zara_Tindall#cite_note-10) Phillips missed the [2004 Summer Olympics](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_Summer_Olympics "2004 Summer Olympics") in Athens after her horse was injured during training.[\[11\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zara_Tindall#cite_note-11)
Riding [Toytown](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toytown_\(horse\) "Toytown (horse)"), Phillips won individual and team gold medals at the 2005 [European Eventing Championship](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Eventing_Championship "European Eventing Championship") at Blenheim.[\[12\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zara_Tindall#cite_note-12) She went on to win individual gold and team silver at the [2006 FEI World Equestrian Games](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_FEI_World_Equestrian_Games "2006 FEI World Equestrian Games") in [Aachen](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aachen "Aachen"), Germany, becoming [Eventing World Champion](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eventing_World_Championship "Eventing World Championship") until 2010.[\[13\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zara_Tindall#cite_note-Germany-Champ-13)[\[14\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zara_Tindall#cite_note-14) Following her success in Germany, she was voted [BBC Sports Personality of the Year](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_Sports_Personality_of_the_Year_Award "BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award"), an award previously won by her mother in 1971.[\[13\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zara_Tindall#cite_note-Germany-Champ-13) She was appointed [Member of the Order of the British Empire](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Member_of_the_Order_of_the_British_Empire "Member of the Order of the British Empire") (MBE) in the [2007 New Year Honours](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_New_Year_Honours "2007 New Year Honours") for services to equestrianism.[\[15\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zara_Tindall#cite_note-gazette-15) At the 2007 European Eventing Championships in Italy, she won team gold but did not defend her individual title in the show‑jumping phase.[\[16\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zara_Tindall#cite_note-16)
