He won the men’s 100-meter freestyle final with a new Olympic record at 47.02 seconds. Kyle Chalmers of Australia came in second place by .06 seconds, earning a silver medal. Dressel is just 24 years old. **He is also in the running to win the 50 free and 100 fly.** During the Olympic trials, **Dressel swam the fastest times in the world.** ### **Women’s 4 X 200-meter relay** **Ledecky came in charging and brought the women’s team USA from third place behind China and Australia to second place behind China**. Ledecky pulled the team ahead in the relay to win another silver medal for team USA. Australia was a gold medal favorite, but team USA came in ahead at 7:40.73.
