I don't want to find ourselves in a trade war . I certainly don't want a trade war with anybody. A trade war could set of "market jitters" that increase outflows, for example. And you say that this would risk a trade war . And then you're going to find yourself in a trade war very, very quickly. You think they want to have a trade war ? They're not actually prepared for the full economic consequences, which would be severe and profound, of a trade war with the world's second-largest economy. I'm less worried about a trade war . The move would set the stage for broad trade penalties and could lead to a trade war between the two huge economies. That sequence of events is extremely unlikely to ever happen; the more likely scenario is a trade war damaging to both countries.
