Beginner Carpentry and Woodworking
This course is designed to provide an understanding of fundamental carpentry techniques. Participants will learn basic safety procedures; tool identification, use, and selection; tool check out/in procedures, and basic carpentry mathematics. Other course topics may include techniques for framing walls, partitions, roofs, doors, and windows as well as understanding the basic materials and construction practices to layout and construct foundations and flooring systems. Throughout the course, participants are involved in live project construction to give practical application to knowledge learned.
Intermediate Carpentry
This course is a continuation of basic carpentry skills and terminologies. Students will complete a carpentry project of their choosing.
Advanced Carpentry
This course is designed to provide students with fundamental and advanced carpentry techniques used by carpenters in residential and commercial settings. Course topics include safety, work ethic, interview skills, tool identification, hand/power tool use and selection, site preparation, measurement and layout, footings and foundations, construction framing, and other related topics. Throughout the course, participants are involved in live capstone project construction to give practical application to knowledge learned.
Cabinet Making & Trim Work
This course is designed to provide students with the fundamental cabinet-making and trim installation techniques used by carpenters in residential settings. Course topics include safety, work ethic, interview skills, tool identification, hand/power tool use, and selection, etc. Students will learn key information needed to construct and apply finishes to custom cabinetry, laminate countertops, various types of wood products, wood-joining techniques, power tools, cabinet doors, shelves, and hardware. Throughout the course, participants are involved in live project construction to give practical application to knowledge learned.
