Bellin Psychiatric Center is comprised of a specialized, compassionate behavioral and mental health team that provides outpatient care throughout our health system’s clinic locations in Northeast Wisconsin and in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and an inpatient psychiatric hospital located in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Â

Getting the proper mental well-being care can be overwhelming. Learn how our providers collaborate and what type of provider you should schedule an appointment with to best meet your unique needs.
Psychiatrists Â
Psychiatrists are either MDs or DOs who are medically trained in a branch of medicine devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, study and treatment of behavioral health disorders. They will prescribe and manage medication for mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders and attention disorders. They will often refer to a psychologist or other specialized therapist for counseling services. In addition, our team has psychiatric certified Advanced Practice Nurse Prescribers (APNPs) who can provide medication management.Â
Psychologists Â
Psychologists are trained to provide behavioral health services, including the administration, scoring and interpretation of psychological testing. Psychologists can help psychiatrists and patients make decisions regarding treatment and may provide counseling.
Mental Health, Substance Abuse Counselors & Therapists Â
A counselor or therapist is trained in providing treatment for a variety of mental health and substance abuse problems. They will typically meet with a patient on a regular basis to listen, talk, provide recommendations, help resolve problems and develop goals.
Kids in Crisis Warning Signs
The discussion of suicide, especially in children and adolescents, is an emotional and difficult one to have. However, it is crucial that parents, caregivers, coaches, teachers, friends, relatives and others understand the warning signs of suicide and know what to do if they suspect their loved one is struggling. Â
Here are several changes in behavior and warning signs to pay attention to: Â
A drop in grades or school performance Â
Neglecting personal appearance and responsibilities Â
Expressing feelings of anxiety, sadness, hopelessness, boredom or being overwhelmed Â
Loss of concentration in school, work or routine tasks Â
Outbursts and severe anger or irritability Â
